Agen  Klik4D  ~   Salford City star Gareth Seddon thought his mates were pulling a prank when he received a phone call from Gary Neville last summer.

But while he believed his pals were pulling a quick one on him, Neville was actually out pursuing the man he wanted to lead the line at Salford.

Part-time model Seddon was relaxing at home alongside his girlfriend, Melissa, when the rogue phone call arrived during the summer of 2014, just weeks after the Class of '92 completed their takeover of the non-league minnows.

Speaking to the Daily Mail, Seddon revealed the true extent of his shock when the withheld phone number rang him up on a lazy Sunday afternoon.

He recalled: "It was someone claiming to be Gary Neville. I thought, 'Yeah, good one, who’s this?'. Slowly, you recognise the voice.

"I turned to Mellissa, 'S***! It’s Gary Neville!'. I got all nervous. He asked if I’d be interested in signing for Salford."

Seddon had dropped four divisions to play for Salford but the decision was justified by the end of the last year. He finished as top goalscorer with 31 goals.

Seddon said: "Just walking through Manchester the other day some builders shouted, 'Sedders, can we get a picture?'.

My missus cringes and says, 'Why is anyone bothered about you? You’re a goon'. She’s right, I’m just a goofy lad from Burnley."

Seddon, who once hit the bar in Soccer AM's crossbar challenge, is back in action when his Salford side play the biggest game of their career on Friday night, as they host Hartlepool United for a place in the coveted third round.

A third round place could see Seddon reunited with Jamie Vardy, the man who he partnered at Fleetwood Town.

Seddon told how he misjudged the Leicester striker, who recently broke the record for scoring in consecutive Premier League games, by not thinking he was good enough.

But he says he was soon proven wrong as Vardy had a knack of always putting the ball in the back of the net.
