KampusbeT ~ " Mick McCarthy could be tempted by Aston Villa as Ipswich players fear manager's exit "
Agen Bola Terpercaya EURO 2016 ~ Ipswich's players fear Mick McCarthy could be tempted to quit this summer for the vacant Aston Villa job despite recently extending his contract.
The Town chief is yet to rule himself out of the position following Remi Garde's exit at the Premier League basement club.
McCarthy, 57, has guided Sunderland and Wolves into the Premier League before by winning the Championship at both clubs.
He has also publicly stated his wish to manage in the top-flight again.
Mirror
Sport understands his possible defection to Villa this summer is being
widely discussed in the Town dressing room should they miss out on
promotion.
Villa have stated they want a British manager who has Championship
experience with Nigel Pearson, Steve Bruce and David Moyes also on their
short-list.
Villa will have financial muscle next season to challenge for promotion with Premier League parachute payments.
Nonton Bioskop Online GRATIS ~ Since
taking charge at Portman Road in November 2012 with Town facing the
drop, McCarthy kept Ipswich up in his first season and has had them
competing for the play-offs every season since.
This term Ipswich are eighth but have won just once in five games ahead of tonight's visit by struggling Charlton.
McCarthy and Terry Connor extended their contracts at Portman Road in January until the summer of 2018.
But
when asked recently about the Villa vacancy, McCarthy replied: “Yes, it
is flattering. If the remit is for somebody who gets teams promoted
then I've got a good CV for that haven't I? But my focus is here.
"I'm
enjoying being Ipswich Town manager but I don't want anyone thinking
I'm sitting here resting on my laurels, thinking this is a nice cosy
place to be.
"I'm ambitious, I want to be in the Premier League and first and foremost I want to be there with Ipswich.”
